"ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour Championship Stretch" Bonus Point Program

In an effort to help support the regulars with the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour, officials have introduced a new playoff system, named the "ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour Championship Stretch" for the 2009 tour.  After the first nine (9) races, the top-20 drivers will have their points reset, with the championship decided in the final six (6) events.

After the Watermelon Capital Speedway race on August 29th, the top-20 drivers in the national point standings will have their totals reset to 2000 points plus their earned bonus points.

Bonus points are accumulated through the first nine races.  The winner of each event receives 10 bonus points, followed by nine (9) bonus points for 2nd, eight (8) bonus points for 3rd and down the line to 1 bonus point.  Every driver that finishes 10th or worse in any of the first nine events will receive one (1) bonus point.  You must take the green flag for an event to earn any bonus points. 

The total of these bonus points will be added to the 2000 points that all top-20 drivers will be reset to after race number nine (9).  For example, if a driver were to have won three races (30 bonus points), finished second three times (27 bonus points) and third the other three times (24 bonus points), their reset total for the final seven races would be 2081 (2000+30+27+24).

Points in the final six races will be awarded on the regular point schedule.
